So in May, I did as promised and sent out some RAKs! To 2 lucky bday ladies living in the US. And they got their pressies just in time too. I am so so happy about it.

Cutting to the chase, I sent out:

I hope they enjoy their new books!!

As for June, I still want the same books. I really really want them actually. But of course anything from my Wishlist is equally loved. Can you believe it's the middle of the year! OMGosh where did it go so quickly??

Random Thoughts: April RAK Wrap-Up

Well, April was just a totally bad month, for me and for the world I believe. With Boston, then Texas, and all the innocent people who lost their lives and limbs....it is just so sad.

On my side, I suffered a loss too, of a relative. And another one is in the hospital. A really bad month.

As such I did not manage to get any books out. I WILL send one in May though. That I am sure.

More news that saddened me, I was contacted for a RAK this month. But alas, the person, who's name I will not reveal for their sake, never replied to my emails and I most definitely have not received anything. I think it is one thing to offer someone a RAK, but not going through with it is not very nice.

Anyway, I am SO looking forward to May since this month has been so sucky. I hope it was better for everyone else.

Random Thoughts: March RAK Wrap-Up & April Sign-Up

I managed to get out a RAK again! Woo hoo....and the best part, it arrived within the month, which is quite a feat in itself. My faith in The Book Depository is strengthening.

So, they lucky RAK gal for the month of March was the very popular book blogger Tynga @ Tynga's Reviews who is from Canada! I don't think I've ever sent anything to Canada before so I sure am happy I finally got to! I sent Tynga a book from her most wanted list!

I got a really cool RAK in return from Tynga. Not a book though. Instead, a BLOG BUTTON! Woot woot! I have been trying to get one since the person who was supposed to make me one went MIA some time back. So my RAK from her is the pretty bloggie button you see at the top left corner of my blog now! It matches the rest of my blog so I finally have some balance.

THANKS Tynga!!

And so, with that, March is officially over! My gosh! We're already into month FOUR! That is some scary s***! Where did all that time go??

Random Thoughts: February RAK Wrap-Up & March Sign-Up

In February it was my mission to send out a March bday RAK. I know, I know. You're not supposed to send out March RAKs in February. BUT, I know for a fact that in this particular case, if I send it out in March itself, it would never reach in time! So I sent out a March bday RAK in February, yes I did.

And it was to my bookish blogger buddy Miki @ Lecture toute une Aventure  in Belgium! I sent her a book that I myself have read and loved.

I didn't get any RAKs in February but my January RAKs did arrive so I am happy for that!

Random Thoughts: Happy New Year

First and foremost,

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Secondly, I've decided not to make a Resolutions List this year. Giving myself some freedom.
We'll see where it goes.

It's also the 2 week COUNTDOWN to my birthday where I'll be (of course) having a giveaway!!
Stay tuned for that!

I'll be participating in quite a few Giveaway Hops this year so look out for those too.

Hope to see you around!

Cheers!

November slipped past so quickly! Christmas and New Year's is now just around the corner. And now December is a time of giving so let's call on the Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) and spread some Christmas joy to others no matter where they are in the world!
November was a little different for me. I didn't send out a book but instead, an Amazon GC which was wonderfully utilized by the receiver to get a book she really wanted off her wishlist! The recipient of my little November RAK was:
miki @ Lecture toute une Aventure from Belgium

And from the same miki, I got:

her lovely handmade bookmark! JUST FOR ME! plus some cute Smurfy stickers!

Yet again, a BIG thanks to the gals over at Book Soulmates for continually hosting this great monthly event! A lot of bookish joy has been spread around the world because of them.

to Mary @ Sweeping Me from USA as it was her birth month!

I didn't receive anything last month but that's okay.

Now, onto JUNE! The rules remain the same, the only thing that changes is the person(s) you decide to bestow RAKs to!

But before you jump in, do read the rules first! And remember, this is about giving as much as receiving!

Here's my Wishlist if you'd like to share the book love with me! THANKS.

COMPLETE RAK RULES RE-CAP:
Please read carefully & follow all rules!  Thank you!

  • Please sign-up each month that you can participate (and by participate, we mean give as well as receive).
  • Show off your participation by grabbing our RAK button (code is in the right sidebar).
  • Create a wish list (on Amazon, Goodreads, or your blog, etc) and post it in the Google Doc located in each R.A.K post for the month.
  • If you choose to do a R.A.K for someone, check out their wish list and contact that blogger directly for their information.
  • Once you receive a RAK, send an email to [rakbybooksoulmates @ gmail . com] so that they can update the Google Doc. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SEND EMAILS TO THIS ADDRESS!
  • E-book participation is limited to files being gifted directly to a person from the e-book store. Amazon's Kindle Store is set up to allow this, as well as the Kobo store and we believe Barnes & Noble with Nook as well.
  • At the end of the month, SHOW US YOUR R.A.K by making a "RAK Wrap-Up" post.  This post should include who you SENT gifts to as well who you RECEIVED gifts from :)
OPEN TO EVERYONE including all our International brethren!
Remember, there's always the Book Depository and they offer FREE shipping!

Easy peezy!!

Links you will need:
  • Sign up for June [HERE]
  • See who else is participating [HERE]
  • If you have any questions regarding RAK, please contact them via the following: rakbybooksoulmates @ gmail . com
Tips:
1. When talking about RAK on Twitter, please use the hastag (#RAK). It makes it much easier to keep track of the conversations, answer questions and/or tweet back! =)
2. When submitting your wish list, please make sure that it is set to PUBLIC viewing. Some people have run into trouble with wish lists that were set to private. We want to be sure that no one is left out of getting great RAKs.
3. Some of you seem to have gotten frustrated because you can't get your links to appear active. This is a very easy fix :) Just make sure that when you enter your link, do NOT hit the Enter key. Instead, hit the TAB key which will send you to the next field on the form. Additional spaces entered after the link will leave the link inactive. However, if this does happen to you...no worries, we'll fix it for you :)

Random Thoughts: I'm Taking Part in an Upcoming Giveaway Hop!

Just to let you know, I will be participating in the My Favourite Reads Giveaway Hop from June 1st - 6th.

The winner gets his/her choice of 1 book from my list of 6 offerings.

I am doing my best to review all the books and will be posting them as I go. I only have 1 week to go so we'll see how many I can finish.

If you like to participate in my Giveaway, do check out my reviews so that you can start picking the one you'd like to pick should you win!

I'll be posting the links to this post as well for your convenience.

Thanks for reading! Hope to see you in the Giveaway Hop!
