Must Go's: Kiehl’s Party: What An Event!

This is a very late post. One I probably should have written long ago. For that I am TRULY sorry. But that said, it is still better late than never! So I was amongst the lucky guests invited to attend the Kiehl’s Party hosted by Von Von on the 8th of August. It was held at the flagship store in Pavilion KL. At first I was shocked as they were actually having it within the Kiehl’s store premises. A shocker as there would be normal customers walking in and out as well as the other guests. I knew it was to get crowded.

The party started off with Nadia, PR of Kiehl’s, introducing herself and then having the hostess do so as well. Then all the guests were “invited” to introduce themselves as an ice-breaker.

Then came the video presentation on Kiehl’s, with Nadia providing extra details.

After that came Play & Mingle Time. Some people drifted off to the yummy table of food, ordered from blogger FatBoyBakes and cooler of drinks in between. The food was delish, the company wonderful.

We got to play with anything and everything in the store, including the kiddie section! But that’s another story.

We were also introduced to their Ultra Facial range, with Ice Man included! Very exciting.

Ice Man looked so cute with his frosty icicles, seen here with Miu and Von Von respectively. I went round and round the store playing and testing, sniffing and reading everything. I think their videocam had a lot of fun tracking the same person going on a bit of a Merry-Go-Round that day.

And of course, there were the goodie bags. A whole table full of them! Those cute baggies surprised everyone who opened them. 2 deluxe-sized samples consisting of 1 Ultra Face Cream or Moisturizer and 1 Formula 133 Hair Conditioner and Grooming Aid, not including the samples provided to all guests after consulting with the Kiehl’s Customer Representatives (KCRs)!

Kiehl’s also offered all guests a further RM 10 off every RM 100 purchase that day. Boy, I don’t think anyone left empty handed! Not counting the goodie bags of course. I sure didn’t! So what did I get for my first (but NOT last) haul??

The Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub in 'Pear Tree Corner' (must try!!), Lip Balm #1 (review coming up soon!), and the much raved about Dermatologist Solutions Ultimate White Surface Brightening Exfoliator (reviewed!)!!

The group photo (what was left of the invited guests anyway), everyone was so busy playing and mingling we totally forgot to take it earlier.

Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better Party! The food great, the atmosphere buzzing with excitement, the KCRs extremely helpful and generous, and the hauling…slighty greedy. Now I know what to put on my wishlist!! So a BIG THANK YOU to Von Von for hosting, to Kiehl’s for allowing us the pleasure of messing up your store (I know we did!), to Nadia (PR) and Yvonne (Retail Manager) and the rest of the KCRs for having us and being so helpful and knowledgeable. I can only hope this won’t be the last of it. You’ll be seeing me around Kiehl’s pretty soon I presume!

Face It: Kiehl's Ultimate White Surface Brightening Exfoliator, hype or HG?

I first read about the Kiehl's Ultimate White Surface Brightening Exfoliator a few months back on several other sites. At the time I did not know of Kiehl's but those rave reviews piqued my interest so I researched further. What I found out made me more confident in my desire to test the product. A big plus point is that Kiehl's gives free samples any day any time, and to anyone who asks. So I did what anyone in my position would do. I got a sample! That was then. And now is now. But how did it work out for me?

Well let's just say that I purchased the full-size when I was invited to VonVon's Kiehl's party! What is more, I got it on discount too!
The texture out of the tube is thick and quite coarse without water.

It's creamy white texture would make even Snow White envious. Honestly, my first time using the product was pretty rough. My fault though as I didn't add enough water to it.

Although you don't need that much water to create the lovely, foamy lather, an adequate amount of water is needed to dissolve some of the granules to avoid the exfoliator being too rough and scratchy on the skin. After some of the cream has been dissolved, tiny granules are left and this is what makes this gentle exfoliator a winner in my books!

After

After gentle scrubbing my face with this in a circular motion, I use the remains on my neck and decolletage. Hey, if it works on the face, it should be fine there too right? Well I am happy with the results. I am quite wary when it comes to facial scrubs due to my sensitive cheeks. But to my amazement, it didn't cause any redness. In fact, I notice that my cheeks were less red after using this. May it be due to the whitening properties? I don't really care about that really as I think I am quite fair as I am. My main concern was to get an exfoliator gentle enough for my skin yet gives me my desired results. And I believe I have found the one!

Loves: Gentle on my sensitive cheeks, exfoliates well, you don't need to use a lot to get results

Gripes: None so far!
My advice would be to use a little and lather it up. If you feel it is too little, then slowly add more. This way you cut down on wastage and can cater it to our own needs.

But do keep in mind that you should always patch test as not every product works the same way for others. This is where the samples come in handy.
This product is available at all Kiehl's outlets. It comes in a 150ml tube for the price of RM 105. So what are you waiting for, get your sample and try it out for yourself!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this review financially or otherwise. Everything mentioned are my own thoughts based on my experience.

Freebies A-Hauling: Freebies & A Vichy Update

I'm off today and so what better way to spend it but by getting freebies. Was happy to get a few of the things I wanted.

Kiehl's new pore minimizing range is out. Called Rare Earth, it looks to be a keeper for those with oily skin and enlarged pores. Even if you don't have oily skin overall, it can still be used just for those target spots. I got some samples to try (very happy). The KCRs at 1 Utama were very friendly. Go check it out!

Printed out the Clarins HydraQuench sample voucher from PrettyBeautiful's site and redeemed the Smoothing Gel from the range (happy again).

I Nuovi freebie redemption is still ongoing, they had all 4 colours when I dropped by! I chose Charcoal just so you know (happy happy). Sweet SA there who speaks only Chinese but understands English. Go get it at around lunchtime for better choices and to avoid the Out Of Stock syndrome. Don't bother going at night, I tried last week and was turned away.

Vichy at Guardian is on sale! At least the green range is from what I was told. There is also a nice lady giving out Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care sachet samples. The product, usually retailing for RM 100 for 50ml is selling for just under RM 88 until the end of the month! What better time to try it out after reading such rave reviews. The rest of the range is also on discount of about 15% if my memory succeeds me.

That is all for now. Will update with pictures once I have them. Have a good hauling week!

Face It: A cleanser and a mask? Too good to be true?

As I thought of what to review first, it came to me that I should post about something I already use or have used. This is where Neutrogena's Deep Clean Cleanser/Mask. I didn't even think about reviewing this product due to the fact that it has been in the market for such a long time. The launching of Neutrogena's Fine Fairness range, where they were also promoting the Deep Clean range brought it to mind again.

Back to the product, it can be used daily as a cleanser or an oil-controlling mud mask. Now, I have dry combination skin, with an oilier T-zone and dry, sensitive cheeks. I actually bought this after having had success using the Foaming Cleanser from the same range. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for this one.

I find this product too drying as a cleanser. Even by reducing the amount used, I still get that slightly tight feeling after washing off with water. Thus, I don't think it would work very well for me as a mask. People with oily skin might benefit from it though as it contains Kaolin.

Loves: 2 in 1 product, good for people with oily skin, can be used as an oil-controlling mask
Gripes: Too drying for dry skins

This Cleanser/Mask can be yours for just RM 18.90 for 100ml and goes on sale quite often at most pharmacies. It is both dermatologist and allergy tested and is non-comedogenic. A little goes a long way and one tube will last a lifetime.

A warm welcome

Hi all, thanks for stopping by.

Will review everything near and dear to me. Food, movies, skincare, bodycare, cosmetics, and even books perhaps (in the future). Hope you will find something to read that is useful.

Reviews are my own, meaning my opinions, thoughts, and experiences. Not everything that works or doesn't work on me will be the same for you so please do exert caution.

That said, enjoy! Hope to see you around.
